Qualified Social Worker – Family Assessment

Qualified Social Workers are required within Herefordshire Council to join the Family Assessment and Support Team (FAST). You will be working closely with children and their families to provide a range of service and support designed to protect children from harm and promote the welfare of children in need.

As a Qualified Social Worker – Family Assessment and Support Team (FAST) you will:-

Carry a childcare caseload in line with the organisational needs of the Directorate.
Assess the needs of children, young people and their families and take appropriate follow up action and plan and implement suitable service provision to safeguard children from harm and meet their identified needs.
Risk assessment work with children and families subject to child protection enquiries.
Promote effective planning for children and young people where there are ongoing needs due to Care, Supervision or Adoptive Proceedings or Orders or Entry to the looked after system.
Work directly with children, young people and their families: ensuring effective communication with service users by using and developing skills in direct work.
Maintain accurate case files and, where appropriate, computer held records in line with expected procedures. As a Qualified Social Worker – Family Assessment and Support Team (FAST) your main skills will be:-

To have knowledge of 1989 Children Act and other relevant legislation, regulations and guidance
To have an understanding of normal child development and family dynamics.
To identify and analyse complex family dynamics, identify risks and resources needed.
To work to national timescales and other operational deadlines, and to plan, prioritise and evaluate own work.
A Social Work qualification is essential – DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent
Up to date professional registration (HCPC)
