Our client’s business is rapidly growing and has been successful in securing and delivering large district heating and cooling network opportunities throughout the UK. Their portfolio covers providing heat and cooling to customers on projects from 2,000 homes up to 20,000 homes. Their solutions deliver zero carbon opportunities and include heat from Energy from Waste, large scale heat pumps and integration of other available waste heat sources. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of new zero carbon solutions for large scale developments and key strategic areas. The Project Manager will be part of the Network Delivery team, reporting to the Head of Delivery & Operations you will take day to day leadership from the Senior Project Manager.The role will require you to interface with contractors, attend CDM meetings and act as Clients Representative in all construction meetings. You will ensure that our client’s expectations are maintained and have a good understanding of CDM, Temporary Works, Building Regulations and Street Works. As the Project Manager you will feed into Area meeting and other reporting streams that capture progress and developments. You will actively maintain the risk register and ensure the leadership team are informed of emerging risks. You will have experience in constructing District Heating systems and understand the challenges the contractor faces. Working with them to ensure robust Health & Safety is maintained and that every person understands their responsibilities. You will work closely with the contractors Project Manager to ensure programme is maintained and identify improvements or measures needed to deliver the works.Key Responsibilities / Duties Reinforcing robust management of health and safety to industry best practicePlanning, managing, executing and controlling the project with responsibility for budget, deadlines, quality, occupational safety and risk management, from concept development, construction to the start of commercial operation of a new plantDevelopment of the concrete project planning and controlPlanning and definition of work packages for all parts of the projectWorking with the Area Project Manager to ensure the project controls are developed and followed.Project risk identification and risk management – including using a robust risk matrix to drive effective decision-making and prioritisationControl and monitoring of contracts with suppliers and service providersCoordination and determination of the planning results with the decision makersProactive management of the critical path and, execution of subordinate tasksReporting on Key Performance Indices to targetContinuous management of various tiers of the project programmeQuality Documentation – Ensuring weld logs, backfill schedules and alarm wire testing results are QA’d and document controlled.Responsible for keeping the project running to time, cost and quality with support and input within a matrix organisation Knowledge and SkillsEssential requirements: 2+ years working experience in project management position or construction position with exposure to project management.Demonstrable experience in construction projects, District Heating experience preferred.Experience with CIBSE, CITB, IOSH an other construction related safety based systemsGood contractual knowledge and understanding programmes and cost models.excellent interpersonal skills: you will be able to speak to labourers and senior executives alike, confident in your knowledge and experience.Strong personality when conflict arises ensuring our client’s values are maintained and uncompromising on safetyhigh degree of competence with software including: Office 365 suite (Word/ Excel Planner); MS ProjectClearly evidenced risk management experienceA good sense of humour Qualifications and Experience Attained or working towards a project management qualification (e.g: APM, Prince2, or PMI)SMSTS or IOSHCDM, Temporary WorksWelding experience a bonusStreet Works, Civil Works, Building Regs Fire Regs, Operations and Maintenance, Water Quality, Legionella and District Heating experience all preferred.
