An ambitious Project Manager looking to step up to a Senior Project Manager with strong Department of Education project experience is being sought after by a specialist consultancy led building contractor due to a recent win on a major government education framework.
You will need to have a relevant construction related degree, e.g., Construction Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Building Engineering. You will be keen to progress academically and be helped to achieve MRICS or MCIOB status
At Aylin White we work with one of the UK’s leading design and modular build consultancy lead contractors and are working in partnership with the company to help them grow and develop with the hire of a Senior Project Manager.
At present they are looking to expand and develop their Education Division due to various project wins within a £250m government education framework with the hire of an ambitious Project Manager who is looking to take a step up to become a Senior Project Manager.
They are looking for an ambitious individual who has been working within a consultancy but ready for the contracting world and have n hands on approach to lead projects end to end.
This is a very client facing position and you will need to be comfortable working closely and constructively with challenging clients, creating innovative solutions, managing a busy workload and supporting the construction team.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will be helping with every aspect of your projects including planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. Have proven experience in managing clients & stake holders and be very hands on as well as providing support for the project team’s operations, leading to the achievement of all the agreed goals within the set scope, time, quality, and budget standards.
The Senior Project manager will be involved with:
* Lead the project and have complete accountability of projects through the project life cycle
* Have proven experience working within a major consultancy and delivering Education projects
* Must have a hands-on approach and experience in managing clients & stake holders
* Provide the drive and focus throughout project lifecycles, promoting best practice and company policies at each stage.
* Responsible for ensuring high levels of transparency throughout the project to support a no surprise approach internally or to external clients.
* Ensure that timeframe targets and budgets are successfully achieved
* Own, maintain and cultivate effective relationships with all stakeholders.
* Lead the design stage process, working with Design Managers to develop a coordinated set of Contractors Proposals and planning application documents.
* Ensure permits and licenses are obtained from appropriate authorities.
* Work alongside the commercial team to negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
* Determine resource requirements (staffing, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitation.
* Manage a team of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, and ensure they are supported in their work.
* Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases with the Operations team to ensure deadlines will be met.
* Ensure the highest H&S standards are maintained at all times.
* Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports for Client and Leadership teams
* Manage a team of sub-contractors working on projects
* Ensure that the required BIM standards are met at all times
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline/ or equivalent work experience.
* Member of APM/RICS/CIOB or equivalent professional organisation, or actively working towards membership.
* Established PM, having worked with or from a consultancy background
* Experience of working throughout all project stages from inception through to the end of defects period.
* Experience of leading teams and mentoring more junior colleagues
* Sector specific client experience- Department for Education
* Experience of modular building desirable but not essential
