Project Manager and 2 X Project Officers

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager and two Project Officers to be responsible for a ground-breaking Big Lottery funded community resilience project that prepares people within the community to respond to emergencies and natural disasters.

The BIG Lottery Reaching Communities funded Communities Prepared project puts people and communities at its core representing a ground-breaking step forward in community resilience.

The project will:

• Provide support and information to people who are facing emergencies and natural disasters within their community, such as; flooding, pandemic flu, landslide, rioting, snow and heat
• Help remove long-established barriers to community resilience
• Help provide a national framework for community resilience that promotes community ownership and empowers volunteers
• Create a legacy of community resilience resources to be rolled out nationally in Phase 2 of the project
• Significantly contribute to the collective learning around community resilience, the recovery an emergency, emergency planning and emergency response

ROLE: Project Manager (Communities Prepared)
SALARY: £31,200per annum
FIXED TERM: 2 Years Fixed Term
HOURS: 37 hours per week
OPERATIONAL AREA: South West
LOCATION: Flexible – Saltash or Homebased (to be confirmed on appointment) with extensive travel throughout the South West

As the Project Manager, you will:

• Be responsible for overall project management & delivery, ensuring the project meets the objectives, targets and outcomes as agreed with BIG
• Support and line manage two Project Officers
• Plan the phases of delivery using a detailed Gantt chart
• Liaise with project partners
• Lead on the training and Train the Trainer sessions, including overseeing the creation of e-learning capability (via moodle)
• Write programme guidance
• Oversee evaluation and new Toolkit module creation
• Be responsible for all the monitoring and evaluation requirements of the project (and the partnership will Collingwood Environmental Partnership
• Report to BIG Lottery and the Communities Prepared Partnership Board (Groundwork South, Cornwall Community Flood Forum, Cornwall College and the Environment Agency)
• Collate and submit quarterly claims to BIG in line with the funding agreement.
• Budget management & reporting
• Write and publish an informative blog throughout the life of the project to give the project a voice, linking it to other social media networks for the project

ROLE: Project Officer x 2 (Communities Prepared)
SALARY: £31,200per annum (FTE £22,286)
FIXED TERM: 2 Years Fixed Term
HOURS: 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE)
OPERATIONAL AREA: South West
LOCATION: Flexible – Saltash or Homebased (to be confirmed on appointment) with extensive travel throughout the South West

As the Project Officer, you will:

• Be responsible for project delivery in defined locations across the South West
• Identify and establish community groups to work with, build relationships with communities and project partners
• Support the resilience volunteers and identify ‘Community Champions’
• Deliver the Toolkit, training and Train the Trainer sessions
• Provide community support and assisting in community capacity building.
• Provide face to face/over the phone support and advice
• Feed into the continuous improvement process, including the creation of additional Toolkit modules and evaluation of the pilot project
• Provide the Project Manager with weekly reports on progress
• Contribute to the project’s blog and provide content for our website and social media
