Project Manager

Salary: £60,000 per year

This challenging and exciting opportunity, based in either Yorkshire or the Northeast, requires a qualified electrical professional possessing a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in operating as a Project Manager from within any area of the power sector, and this can be from having worked for a client side DNO – IDNO or a contractor.

Our client aims to be the UK’s leading provider of power infrastructure for the public and private sectors. Due to an increase in contract awards, a significant forward order workload, and a dedication to continued profitable long-term growth, our client is now seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager for their power division, covering sub-stations, connections, cabling, switchgear replacement and maintenance, and all associated infrastructure.

You will hold responsibility for planning, programming resourcing and delivering projects and frameworks in your respective workstream. This is a pivotal role, responsible for the management and mitigation of project risk, culminating in the on-time delivery of a portfolio of frameworks, meeting business and legislative requirements in project performance and HSEQ compliance.

The Role

* Achieve industry-leading project delivery to time, cost, budget, quality, safety and customer service standards, utilising internal technical and industrial resources, and sub-contractor service providers

* Deliver projects and frameworks ensuring pro-active identification, management and mitigation of contractual and project risk is achieved; applied through effective project, contract and commercial management

* Drive and accomplish customer service standards, working in collaboration across all business areas where needed

* Drive proactive management and improvement plans when standards and customer satisfaction is not achieved

* Bring together external and internal project stakeholders to meet customer requirements

* Lead and control core project areas, applying strategies to improve budget margin, ensuring customer satisfaction is always achieved

* Routinely assess project to identify risks and interdependencies, resetting priorities if required

* Plan and drive project deliverable and non-deliverable outputs, providing guidance to all project staff

* Lead, monitor and record project financial, safety, operational and commercial performance and project closure

* Ensure productivity and safety targets are delivered

The Person

* Preferably at least 5 years’ experience in a similar position within any area of the electrical engineering or utilities (power) sectors, and a good working knowledge of industrial electrical distribution systems and regulations

* Knowledge of power distribution systems and DNO’s or IDNO’s and LV, 11kv and 33kv networks

* Preferably an Electrical Engineering Degree or HND / HNC, or commensurate practical experience in the absence of any qualifications
