Commutable from: Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne, Hartlepool, and Durham.

We are seeking an experienced Engineer (with a proven track record of technical and business management) for the role of Project Director who will operate principally out of our North East office and will be responsible for business development.

The person appointed will be of graduate calibre at CEng or equivalent level who will have a technically based background with 10-15 years’ experience that is likely to be in naval architecture or structural engineering ideally in a Marine Design Consultancy/Marine Warranty Consultant/Engineering Design House (SME sized business).

Reporting to our Aberdeen based Director of Offshore Projects and Engineering, and working alongside Project Directors who will be Aberdeen based, the job holder will be responsible for growing the Oil & Gas business, developing its technical team and delivering projects to clients.

The projects will cover a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, the design and interface of the new equipment & structures for Mobile Offshore Vessels (semi-submersible, jacks-up and mono-hulls), equipment and system integration, develop specifications and delivering work packs in support of shipyard activities. Some of the equipment projects will be performed on a turn-key principle and will involve close co-operation with other business areas to deliver projects encompassing design, procurement, installation and commissioning.

In addition, you will be responsible for continuing to develop new client relationships, extending existing ones through regular direct contact and, where appropriate, introducing new services.
