Project Accountant

Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year

NXTGEN are working with a market leading Engineering company based on the outskirts of Norwich to recruit a Project Accountant. This new role comes as a result of continued growth and the successful applicant will be expected to provide the financial insight needed to maintain this growth. As Project Accountant, you will work across the business, supporting Operational and Commercial teams, giving clarity on margins, profitability and financial performance. The role will be business facing with candidates influencing key commercial decisions across the organisation.

Core responsibilities of the role will include:

– Provide monthly financial reports to budget holders with accompanying commercial commentary

– Work with commercial teams to review margins and identify ways to maximise gross margin

– Analyse business unit costs and identify areas for efficiencies

– Review multiple P&L’s and report to budget holders on performance

– Maintain accuracy and integrity of general ledgers

The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), or will be QBE with demonstrable experience in a similar role. Candidates will need excellent communication skills to work across multiple business units, working with a variety of budget holders. Prior experience with project costing/Capex reviews is highly desirable, with candidates needing strong Excel skills and experience of financial modelling. You will also have an inquisitive mind with a desire to understand the core mechanics of a business, finding opportunities for commercial gain.
