Salary: £31,200 – £38,400 per year

Sussex Recruitment seek a Production Engineer to take responsibility for developing and maintaining cost-effective reliable processes in order to produce components to the required specification and H&S requirements.

You will support the management team by providing technical support to meet production targets and improve productivity.

Responsibilities will include:

• To maintain up to date and expert knowledge of machining processes, fixturing and tooling, and to recommend their application as appropriate.
• Liaise with other functions to ensure that the introduction of new or revised manufactured parts are planned thoroughly to ensure the correct quality and that production targets are achieved.
• To establish, standardise and maintain manufacturing processes for components and assemblies using CNC programs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet H&S, Quality and Productivity requirements.
• To be available and communicate proactively with factory interfaces.
• To be pro-active in seeking feedback and promoting opportunities to identify possible improvements to the manufacturing processes, this includes the management of tools, fixturing, lifting equipment, programs and routings in order to improve productivity.
• To ensure the Non Conformance and Corrective Action processes are managed according to procedures.
• To follow, maintain and suggest improvements according to local procedures.

Essential requirements/knowledge & Skills:

• Good general education – to HNC level with a working knowledge in a mechanical engineering background, preferably with CNC machine tool related background.
• High level of computer literacy using Microsoft package (Word, Excel).
• Knowledge and application of CNC machines, and use of CNC programming language.
• Knowledge and use of metal cutting tools & ability to manage and maintain databases.
• Knowledge and ability to use CAD.
• Ability to produce clear and concise reports & produce written Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
