What do we need: An Experienced Product Manager is required to add value, working for a leading manufacturer in an engineering solutions sector.
Responsibility: You will be responsible for the product strategy and roadmap for the main brands, managing the product throughout the product life cycle. Gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, working closely with the new product development, operations, sales and marketing teams to ensure key growth and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Doing the do:
• Develop and maintain a product and technology roadmap for all product ranges – Understand, analyse and improve our offer: products, technologies, services, etc.
• Quantify growth opportunities that would allow the business to participate in sectors and markets that are growing faster and most profitably
• Co-ordinate with the marketing and sales teams to review and adjust the marketing strategy, plan (including campaigns and promotions) for all products based on performance
• Market, pricing and service positioning insight – Lead analysis to determine the recommended prices and pricing policies for new or updated products/services
• Work together with the new product development team to ensure product design, quality, reliability and profitability goals are met
• Gather and action customer insights through voice of customer exercises like customer interviews and surveys. Recommend product/service changes to the business based on customer feedback and product range reviews
• Conduct regular market research and competitive analyses to stay abreast of existing and new competitive threats and industry trends, including segmentations of end users and customers to find trends and opportunities.
• Lead and co-ordinate efforts to understand un-met customer needs for new products/services or range extensions and make recommendations on the product/service features that need to be developed and/or included
• Lead the launch of new or updated products/services or range extensions and ensure that all the volume, profitability and quality targets defined in the respective business cases are met or exceeded
• Develop and present reports and business presentations to communicate business results, marketing insights and development plans to enable the business leaders’ decision making.
Who will be doing the do?
To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will need to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a product/category management role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the engineering or manufacturing sector.
• Engineering degree and/or Business degree would be a string start but not essential
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an SME making a difference is critical
• Proven track record of applying product management disciplines and cross-functional project execution
• Product Life-Cycle Management – Understanding of how products move through their lifecycle and how to maximise margin at each stage
• Proven experience in developing and executing pricing strategy
• Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes that impact product availability, quality and profitability
• Financial acumen to understand and influence key P&L and business case drivers. Experience of analysis and reporting of financial data
• Understand product financial metrics to quickly identify areas of concern and develop necessary actions to maintain product profitability Competencies:
