Process / Mechanical Engineer

We have 6 vacancies for Process & Mechanical System Engineer’s to work within an existing design team on the UK’s Nuclear New Build programme.

We are seeking chemical engineering backgrounds and those with a mechanical background that have a flair for plant and process. Within this group of 6, there are 2 that will be P&ID Engineers, so process engineers with a strong AutoCAD or PDMS background, producing the diagrams and documentation for the liquid waste treatment systems that will go in to the EPR.

Duties & responsibilities:

Based on the specification for the system, the preliminary safety report and the engineering guidlines, the system engineer:

* Prepares the System Design Manual:
* Describes the system, its role and missions (including the safety missions)
* Carries out the operational design of the system
* Carries out the sizing for the system
* Drives the mechanical draughtsmen for the production of the Process & Instrumentation Diagrams and checks the technical consistency of the latter
* Ensures the proper integration of the P&ID in the 3D model (verifies the 2D/3D consistency)
* Writes the C&I requirements
* Supports the Equipment Engineer to survey the documents produced by the equipment suppliers
* Populates all the ”system” databases

Studies changes requests, challenges them, provides information for the decision on the modification implementation and includes them in the system documentation that they are responsible for.

These activities are performed in interaction with departments based near Paris.

Qualifications, Training & Experience:
Mechanical or chemical engineer. Knowledge on atomic and nuclear engineering is a bonus, not essential.

Technical skills:
Mechanics, Chemistry, thermo-hydraulic, C&I is a bonus

Location: This position is based in North Bristol. It may suit candidates in Bristol itself, South Wales (including Cardiff and Newport), Gloucester, Swindon, and Taunton being within commutable distance. Please note this position is not available on a contract basis.
