An exciting and newly created opportunity has arisen for a Process Development Engineer to join the R and D function of a niche pharmaceutical business based near to Watford at a time where it is embarking on a programme of investment in all parts of the business.

The successful applicant will report into the Bioprocessing Principal Scientist and work with a team that operates within a matrix structure.

This position will involve:

Providing biochemical/chemical engineering expertise in relation to the Company’s process design, development and systems engineering, including all aspects of downstream processing, unit operations, automation and control systems.
Establishing scale-up and sale-down processes including appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration
Providing technical and engineering advice/expertise and problem solving initiative to support existing manufacturing operations and the Company’s current and future
Plan, co-ordinate and direct the activities of staff involved in the development of new and improved processes and systems.
To support and if necessary manage technology transfer making the most effective use of available resources.
Advise Senior Management on the merit of new process developments where relevant to the Company.To be considered for this role you will have:

A Biochemical/Chemical Engineering degree.
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably within a similarly, highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
You will have a good understanding and working knowledge of how to work with proteins.
A good level of technical ability.
Excellent communication skills
IT literateThe role is working Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
