The client:
Our client is looking to recruit a Process Development Chemist to join an existing team. The sucessful candidate will work as part of a team liaising between the production, quality, R&D, process and application teams to drive the business forwards. This position will suit candidates who hold a degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical or Process Engineering and have relevant industrial experience. They need to be keen to learn and a good a good communicator with the determination to see things through to completion. This exciting opportunity will initially be based in Herefodshire for training but It will develop into a mobile/global position.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for day to day chemical and process expertise, to ensure continuous production of polyurethane, polyisocyanurate and phenolic boards and ensure product quality meets specification standards.
Achieve set targets and focus on continuous improvement of products and processes.
The role is responsible for investigation and implementation of corrective action in the event of product failures which will require coordination internally with various departments and potentially with external customers.
Optimise the process chemistry and process methods to ensure the company maintains a lead in terms of the lowest cost of production, whilst maintaining quality and technical standards.
Liaise with suppliers, universities, technical establishments, certification bodies, trade associations, and customers, or attend conferences or further training as required by the objectives of the job role; this will include travel wherever scheduled.
Train and develop staff providing development opportunities to ensure skills and technical competence meet business needs.
Skills & Attributes:
Degree qualified – Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical or Process Engineering
Relevant industry experience
Analytical mindset with an investigative approach and root cause analysis experience.
Willing to travel and work away from home, and hold a full UK driving license. In time, travel will be an essential part of this role to fulfil the requirements and company needs due to ongoing growth/ expansion.
Awareness of COSHH regulations is essential.
Experience in process, six sigma or quality/continuous improvement programs and the ability to interpret SPC/process/QC data is desirable.
Speaking a second or multiple languages would be advantageous.
For EU roles, candidates must be eligible to work and live in the European Union.
