Principal Structures (Rail Bridge) Engineer

The Principal Engineer role provides an exciting opportunity for a dynamic chartered engineer and manager to help lead part of and grow the rail team to deliver technical solutions on a range of our major projects like Crossrail and HS2. You will be responsible for helping build client relationships, winning work and be responsible the management of projects to deliver to time, cost and quality.

Responsibilities
Depending on the project the role will either lead a team or work as part of a team to deliver security consultancy and design services to clients in primarily in the rail sector.

The key responsibilities of the Principal/Associate Engineer are as follows:

Build long term client relationships that help secure new work and projects.
Develop and deliver winning proposals including technical and commercial requirements.
Working directly with internal and external clients and their stakeholders to establish client requirements and to successfully deliver projects
Responding to commercial opportunities and prepare fee proposals and tender submissions
Preparing project programmes and budgets
Leading a team of designers and take responsibility for the team’s output and quality of work.
Coordinating design solutions with internal and external design teams to produce coherent and holistic solutions.
Deliver projects successfully and be accountable for project planning, project direction and project management.
Manage projects and undertake technical work associated with Rail infrastructure designs including bridges, retaining walls and transport infrastructure.
Implementing the Business Management System and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and other appropriate procedures

Skills and Experience
Qualifications
– Essential – Engineering Degree.
– Essential – Chartered Engineer with recognised professional institution ICE/IStructE.
– Desirable: Relevant postgraduate qualification.

Experience

Engineering design and management experience in the Transport (Rail/Road) sector. Sound knowledge of Network Rail GRIP process, British Standards, Euro codes and experience of working on design and build projects is essential. Experience in the design of rail bridge infrastructure is required.
