Lancashire – commutable from Blackburn, Burnley, Skipton, Keighley
Permanent
100% site based – 40 hrs per week, Monday – Friday
Salary is £50,000 – £73,500 per annum, plus benefits DOE
The Principal Scientist is required to be a subject matter expert in Extractables and Leachables and trace analysis. They provide support, guidance and technical know-how to the Scientific Development team. They need to have excellent analytical chemistry skills and advanced problem-solving abilities. They will act as a mentor and support the progression of the scientists within the team.
The successful candidate for the Principal Scientist role will:
• Act as a technical lead/ SME for method development and validation activities
• Subject matter expert in Extractable & Leachable and trace analysis
• Perform technical reviews of method development and validation documentation
• Arrange client visits and take part in coordinating technical review meetings. Document meetings minutes effectively and coordinate completion of actions.
• Provide training and guidance for the scientific development team to support their growth
• Develop best practices for effective and efficient method development projects
• Develop business case justification for investment in new technologies
• Support scientific marketing and business development activities
• Contribute to client projects
The ideal candidate for the Principal Scientist will have:
• A BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or analytical Chemistry or related subject. A PhD is desirable.
• Essential: At least 10 years’ method development experience in HPLC and GC. Working in method development within a regulated science and/or research analytical laboratory environment
• Extensive experience in the use of LC-MS or GC-MS method development and validation
