Salary: £50,400 – £69,600 per year

Job Purpose
To apply engineering skills to the electrical/electronic engineering group in the electrical design of sub-systems and systems, across the full range of product platforms for release to business divisions.

Key Accountabilities
• Work in conjunction with the Functional Lead to develop electrical engineering processes and tools.
• Work with the Research / Development and Application teams to ensure research concepts are translated into electrically safe and compliant design solutions which meet relevant standards & legislation, delivered to budget and timescale.
• Work with other Engineering Functions, Project Management, Manufacturing, Procurement and Quality to develop a manufacturable, safe and reliable product.
• Apply safe design principles to systems, with particular interest in electrical safety, pressure and machine safety directives.
• Management and ownership of mechanical design deliverables, change control and risks.
• Ensure electrical designs are delivered in adherence to processes and procedures.

Responsible for
Platform electrical system design, prototype, build (including supplier liaison), validation/test and subsequent sign-off

Qualifications
• Degree level qualification in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and at least 5 years work place design experience. Non-degree qualifications suffice with relevant industrial experience of more than 15 years.
• CEng & professional membership of a recognised professional body.
• HV experience and record of training.

Experience
• Use of 3D & 2D CAD software to produce electrical design models and drawings. Solid works experience desired.
• Product design experience (medium to high volume products).
• In depth knowledge of design for manufacture & assembly.
• Application of appropriate calculation and analysis methods for electrical system/sub-system design.
• HV Safety Management System experience.
• Automotive OEM electrical system experience including HV powertrains and drives.

Key Skills
• Ability to be able to communicate appropriately and effectively at all levels in the organisation and across multiple functional teams.
• Strong technical knowledge and significant experience of electrical engineering fundamentals and principles.
• Ability to create and interpret documentation for structured development programmes.
• Supplier management, including RFQ preparation.
