Primary SENCO Needed in Hammersmith and Fulham for A September Start

Sugarman SEN are currently looking for an experienced SENCO required for a fantastic Primary School based in South West London. The school is looking to employ someone from September for the whole academic year and with the possibility of going PERM if you are the right fit for the school.

The SENCo will co-ordinate additional support for pupils with SEN and liaise with their parents, teachers and other professionals who are involved with them. You will be responsible for the day to day running of all SEN needs at the school. The successful applicant for this role must be a qualified teacher (with QTS) and you will be required to do some classroom based teaching.

The needs of pupils range from students with Autism, behavioural difficulties and some Severe Learning needs.

The key responsibilities of the SENCO include:
• Overseeing the day to day operation of the school’s SEN policy
• Liaising with and advising fellow teachers
• Managing the SEN team of teachers and learning support assistants
• Coordinating provision for pupils with special educational needs
• Overseeing the records on all pupils with special educational needs
• Liaising with parents of pupils with special educational needs
• Contributing to the in-service training of staff
• Liaising with external agencies

You must be committed to SEN, have relevant experience as a SENCO in previous primary, secondary or special needs schools. You will also need to have the ability to remain calm and focused in all settings and be able communicate well with both students and other staff alike.

Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, TEAM TEACH, Positive handling or other SEN programmes would also be of an advantage.

The Special Educational Needs provision is already very well run and we are looking for a SENCO who will be able to join the very supportive staff team whilst bringing new ideas for the improvement of learning within the provision.

You must be able to provide an enhanced DBS dated within the last year and also be able to provide 2 working references.
