This is an exciting opportunity for a power systems engineer to join a friendly expanding Power Systems team working on a range of diverse industry-leading projects. These projects aim to develop innovative solutions for client transmission and distribution installations, ensuring the security of electricity supply.
Your role will involve design and analysis of medium and high voltage power systems utilising industry-recognised power systems analysis software. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of power infrastructure, contributing to cutting-edge projects that revolutionise the energy landscape.
Power systems Engineer Responsibilities
As a Power Systems Engineer, your role will encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including:
- Utilise power systems software to model complex networks and run advanced power system studies, both steady state and dynamic.
- Produce engineering reports based on the outputs of power system studies and prepare designs calculations, and technical specifications.
- Perform compliance requirements when integrating renewable energy sources into power infrastructure projects, with a focus on photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Co-ordinate input from other disciplines and project design team to in undertaking the studies.
- Supervise and co-ordinate the production of technical drawings.
- Check calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports produced by others.
- Work effectively within project teams, sharing knowledge, promoting ideas, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Your Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Power Systems Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or progressing towards Chartered Engineer status.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering role undertaking Power Systems Studies.
- Proficient in power systems analysis software such as DIgSILENT Power Factory or ETAP.
- Knowledge on UK Engineering Recommendation G99 and Grid Code requirements is desirable.
- Proven ability to produce schematic diagrams, fault and protection coordination, specifications, and report writing to present the studies results.
- Ability to manage tasks across multiple projects and conflicting deadlines, working both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a project team.
