HR AdvisorJob Purpose:
To support the Distribution Team in achieving its objectives by providing a comprehensive HR service, ensuring best practices and Company policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.

Supporting the Distribution Managers to improve; key performance indicators such as Labour turnover, performance, absence levels and succession planning and most importantly change management.

The HR Advisor – DC will uphold corporate governance, translating and delivering corporate initiatives to meet local business needs and take responsibility for compliance with HR policy, whilst understanding risk and commerciality.

Key interfaces and relationships:

  • The ability to create influential relationships is fundamental to the success of this role:
  • Strong relationships with central HR departments that ensure the delivery of both corporate and local people plans, together with the implementation of best practices.
  • Strong partnership based approaches with local Leadership and Management teams that ensure the effective delivery of business objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Open and culturally supportive relationships with
  • Distribution Management, Union
  • Representatives (USDAW) and Colleague teams.

To liaise with the HR Manager on all aspects of role to contribute to an effective, focused and professional service in line with the needs of the business

Key Accountabilities/Actions:

The HR Advisor will be responsible for:
Support the Distribution Teams through defined performance indicators
Advise Distribution Teams on HR Policies and procedures
Provide specialist support in employee relations casework (absence, performance, grievance and disciplinary matters) when required.
Play a key role in investigations and attendance, where required, at disciplinary, grievance, appeal and long term sick meetings
Lead and support Distribution Teams through all employee relations processes including and not extensive to change management (TUPE, Consultation and redundancy legislation)
Working with Distribution Teams to understand skills gaps and development and where required deliver appropriate solutions
In conjunction with HR Manager DC identify training needs and assist in the development and delivery of training tools
In conjunction with the HR Manager review and development of local communication methods to ensure business consistency.
The pro-active resolution of local people challenges to enable delivery of business objectives.
Work with Leadership Managers to develop capability, coaching and mentoring as and when appropriate
Review, update and implement Policy and Procedures to specifically fit the client area to ensure consistency, increase performance and decrease cost and litigation
Complete adhoc recruitment for hourly paid colleagues including interviews, starter packs, Right to work and liaising with payroll for payment.
Need to know:

Sound and Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law and HR best practice
CIPD qualified or equivalent qualification
Relevant Human Resources qualifications or working towards.
At least 3 years relevant HR Advisor experience
Experience of advising line managers in all aspects of employee related issues (up to and including dismissal level, TUPE and Consultation)
Good understanding of Warehouse and Transport operations

Know How:

  • Able to demonstrate excellent problem solving techniques

  • Strong influencing skills

The ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business performance, productivity and the
development of HR within the business
