PMO Lead

A well-known Defence client requires a PMO Lead to work onsite in Barrow-in-Furness, the home of their Submarine business. Initial 6 month contract, paying £51.28 p/h Ltd/Umbrella

**Job Description**

– Provide supervisory management to a team of Project Support resource within the IPDE Project, give direction and task individuals to maintain project status reporting.
– Manage and report on all project related financial information related to the IPDE Project.
– Build and maintain relationships with the Project teams, senior management and customer representatives.
– Ensure conformance with the agreed Project processes and maintain good communications with the IM&T PMO (including EDP/CPI) to ensure cross programme reporting is maintained and improved.
– Ensure conformance with the agreed Successor Project processes and maintain good communications with Project Controls, Planning, Cost Engineering and Finance to ensure plans and cost forecasting / reporting is maintained and improved.
– Provide challenge to Project Managers on schedule, cost and quality of their project deliverables.
– Ensure the team process FA’s, Purchase req’s, PO’s and invoicing in a timely manner whilst ensuring a right first time ethos is driven back into the project teams.
– Review and assess project plans for schedule adherence, milestone achievement, dependency management.
– Ensure the team maintain the IPDE, MSP programme plan and process / update the main P6 plan with weekly progress on activities as well process and implement change through PMBCR/I’s.
– Ensure risks and issues are captured and consolidated into an overall risk and issues picture for escalation to management. Work with the PM’s to ensure all risk and issues are costed appropriately and recorded accurately into the ARM system, ensuring accurate reporting of all programme risks to the customer.
– Provide Project support capability aligned with PRINCE2, BAE Life Cycle Management (LCM) and other agreed methodologies utilised within IM&T and BAE systems.
– Ensure the co-ordination and supply of progress reporting requirements from the Programmes and projects into the IM&T PMO and the IPDE Project PMO for weekly, monthly updating and monthly programme reviews.

**The Individual**

– Ability to present complex concepts and processes in an easily understood manner
– Ability to coach and advise PM’s on the use of PMO systems and processes
– Ability to handle complex problems and resolve to satisfactory outcomes
– PRINCE2 or APM awareness is preferable
– Experience of leading small teams in a support role such as PSO, PMO or administration
– Good MS Excel skills are essential, awareness of MS Project and other MS Office Tools beneficial
– Experience of working with project management methodologies
– Basic understanding of financial transactions within a business setting
– Experience of leading teams, scheduling and tasking resources
– Solid financial background
– Basic understanding of commercial engagement with third party suppliers
