Salary range: £28,400 – £42,600 per annum
Location: Remote working but requirement to be North East based due to On-Call support

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Platform Engineer in our Platform Management Team. This is an exciting role being part of a team who operate, maintain, monitor and protect the Banks Physical and Virtual Server estate that are central to customer and colleague-facing services. The Platform Management Team provide expertise in supporting VMWare Technologies across the full IT estate, hosting a mix of Windows and Linux. This includes working heavily with VMWare including building virtual environments, troubleshooting issues and maintaining the virtual estate. The team also work within the datacentres commissioning, maintaining and decommissioning the physical server estate.
What you’ll be doing…
- Administration, configuration, maintenance, and management of VMWare, Linux (RHEL), and physical datacentre infrastructure management (HPE DL/BL series, C7000/Synergy enclosures, and power management/resilience)
- Capacity planning and performance monitoring of IT infrastructure
- Form part of the out of hours on-call rota for 24/7 support, as well as the daily support rota
- Provide 3rd line support to other IT teams
- Engage with incident management as required to help resolve any issues that may arise
- Out of hours working for tasks that can’t be done during the working day, as required
- Contribute to audit and risk reviews
- Contribute to project planning and designs, as see them through to completion
- Develop good relationships and rapport with other technical teams
- Engagement with 3rd party vendors for support, training, and general best practice/guidance
- Support colleagues by taking part in Teams calls, producing documentation, etc.
We need you to have…
- Experience working with either VMWare (vCenter, ESX, SRM and Aria – formerly vRealize) or Linux (RHEL 6 and above) including physical datacentre infrastructure
- Capacity planning and performance monitoring of IT infrastructure
- Form part of the out of hours on-call rota for 24/7 support, as well as the daily support rota
- Provide 3rd line support to other IT teams
- Engage with incident management as required to help resolve any issues that may arise
- Out of hours working for tasks that can’t be done during the working day, as required
- Contribute to project planning and designs, as see them through to completion
- Develop good relationships and rapport with other technical teams
- Ability to cope with multiple priorities in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment
- Excellent analytical skills and understanding of the Project Management lifecycles
- Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders with the ability to analyse and interpret information
- Ability to work effectively, as part of a team and independently with first class organisation skills
- Enthusiastic determined, self-motivated.
