Plant & Fleet Manager

They are now seeking to appoint an experienced Plant and Fleet Manager to join their team to manage the companies assets. You will liaise with the Contracts and Operations Managers, ensure all relevant legislation and regulations are complied with and manage the workshop staff. Their fleet consists of LGV 2 vehicles and associated plant.

Specific duties include:

• Maintain asset register
• Advise when plant and vehicles are nearing end of economic useful life and require replacement
• Maintain service and inspection records
• Ensure fleet and plant is maintained in good working order and serviced/repaired regularly
• Ensure plant is available when required by operations
• Maintain Purchase Order log for all plant and fleet hire, repairs and authorisation of purchase invoices
• Manage workshop budget including obtaining estimates and seeking approval for repairs and maintenance
• Ensure all vehicles have valid MOT’s, are Taxed, Insured and that the insurance Database is kept up to date
• Ensure all insurance requirement are met, i.e. copies of drivers licences regularly obtained in line with regulatory bodies guidelines
• Investigate all accident and manage all insurance claims with insurance brokers
• Manage yard diesel tank including diesel usage log
• Manage fuel cards ensuring rate are competitive
• Manage Dart Tag and Congestion Charge registrations
• Maintain fleet mileage records
• Manage all fixed penalty notices and ensure appropriate deduction advised to finance and made from wages
• Maintain and build relationships with plant and vehicle hire companies and other suppliers ensuring best rates are obtained
• Review Tachograph and Tracker records
• Ensure parts store is organised efficiently and effectively with stock kept to a minimum and no unnecessary parts ordered
• Organise and manage the transportation of their own and hired plant when required

You will have:

• CPC National & International Certification (highly desirable but not essential)
• Able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of VOSA requirements and Driver Regulations.
• A minimum of three years experience of working within a fast paced HGV environment as Transport Manager preferably a civil engineering or plant hire company.
• Be flexible to meet the companies needs
• Reside within the Kent or SE London areas.
• Have excellent organisational and communication skills
