Physiotherapist
Job Description
To provide a high standard of Physiotherapy care, responding promptly and fully to the needs of St Monica Trust residents at Westbury Fields and working proactively to improve their wellbeing, whilst also supporting colleagues through excellent team working and reciprocal learning.
This role also includes Working with the St Monica Trust Therapy Team to support the flow of clients through our 12 NHS pathway 2 beds and 4 non-weight-bearing beds at John Wills House care home.

Main duties/responsibilities
- Physiotherapy assessments of clients in intermediate care, between hospital admission and final discharge destination.
- Setting and reviewing rehab goals and rehab programmes, determining accurate discharge dates and post-discharge equipment and care requirements, and ordering equipment from the local NHS community equipment stores (Medequip).
- Attending MDT meetings.
- Physiotherapy assessments of permanent and short-term residents of the care home and of residents of the independent living flats with the aim of reducing the risk of falls, leading rehabilitation, 24-hour posture management and promoting movement, independence, and social engagement.
- Therapy treatments including exercise, functional rehabilitation, manual therapy, education, electrotherapy and advising on equipment.
- Resident-centred multidisciplinary team working.
- Helping residents to manage their acute and long-term conditions.
- Working closely with other members of the Therapy team, including other Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants.
- Providing formal supervision and teaching for more junior and the non-qualified team members.
- Ordering equipment from the NHS community stores.
- Safely and appropriately delegating therapy tasks to therapy assistants.
- Maintain accurate records necessary for the role.
- Communicate readily and effectively with residents, their families, colleagues, and other individuals from outside the organisation.
- Contribute to service development.
Essential
- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
- Member of CSP and registered with HCPC
- Good IT skills
- Experience in working with older people – including frailty and dementia care
- 2 years post-graduate experience
- Experience working with Therapy Assistants
- Experience working in NHS
- Up-to-date professional knowledge
- Evidence of personal development
- Excellent team worker
- Motivated and enthusiastic worker
- Orthopaedics experience
- Community/home visit experience
- Enthusiasm for improving the wellbeing of older people
Desirable
- Experience of working within a care home
- Experience working in BNSSG
- Experience ordering equipment using TCES Community
- Experience in wheelchairs and/or seating
- Accredited referrer for BWCS
- Neuro experience
£20.87 per hour; 30 hours per week, working Tuesday-Friday, from 9:00am-5:00pm.
