JOB TITLE: Personal Injury Claims – large loss
LOCATION: Tonbridge Kent or Remote

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for your own caseload of high value, large or catastrophic loss personal injury claims and any associated special damages
You will work under your own authority in accordance with a set referral authority and criteria – fast track and multi track cases. Cases in excess of authority will need to be referred to the appropriate line manager/referral point.
Evaluation of cases may include periodical payment requests, communicating via telephone (incoming and outbound calls) and written correspondence with other insurers, solicitors, clients, witnesses, repairers, engineers, medical experts, forensic accountants, Counsel, Courts, police and other agencies to facilitate progression of the case file.
Review case history on file assignments while liaising with other departments as required to establish where liability for the accident rests and investigate the validity of third-party claims.
Ensure a relevant level of technical understanding with continuous development and learning.
Updating the claims system with clear and accurate records of progress on the claim, leaving diary messages for any next steps and timeframes
Assess cases for prospects of success at litigation
Spot insurer, handling agent and defendant solicitors’ trends and tactics to assist in the departmental handling of third party claims
Ensure collective targets are attained, specifically in relation to controlling indemnity spend
Provide excellent customer service

Experience / knowledge
A minimum of 5 years’ experience of managing your own caseload of multi-track / large loss personal injury claims with exceptional technical knowledge, gained preferably from within an insurer or solicitor background
Sound knowledge of the CPR, Pre Action Protocols, Personal Injury Protocol and litigation procedures
Qualifications
Secondary education or equivalent with demonstrable ability in numeracy skills and written English
ACI qualified or significant progress towards would be an advantage but not essential
