With a worldwide presence, my client is a leader in the process automation system market. Offering services in design, manufacture and consultancy they are currently experiencing a period of continued major success.

The role
The senior Engineer is expected to take responsibility for Product Design at the subsystem level (eg PCBs, mechanical assemblies, complete software functional areas etc.) and provide input to the architectural level. They will be capable of designing multiple interacting aspects of module or product.

You will take overall responsibility for design of the modules to specification, sharing reviews ensuring quality and on-time delivery within budget. You will be competent in a broad range of technical skills and be a major contributor at review meetings.
As the Senior Engineer you will be proficient and compliant with Departmental Procedures and proved assistance and support to other departments, other business groups and customers as required.

Main Responsibilities/Skills
• Have extensive Knowledge of specific areas of the product development or technology and activity assist other engineers in areas of expertise.
• Have detailed knowledge of, and the ability to implement using complex techniques.
• Be able to coach and assist other engineers in the use of complex techniques.
• Provide input into architecture design and takes responsibility and accountability for subsystem design.

Essential Skills
• Windows programming with.NET
• Windows programming with unmanaged C or C++ and the Win32 API.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills, including programming against interfaces
XML DOM programming
• Experience of User Interface design and/or User Experience skills
• Good theoretical understanding of computer architectures, e.g. interrupts, threads, semaphores, memory management

Software Skills
• C++inheritance, C++ Virtual functions, Abstract base classes
• Java equivalents of the above
• Interrupts, multi threading, Semaphores, Deadly Embrace, Priority Inversion, I/O devices.
• MFC Classes & Dialogues,. NET Framework, Flash, Delphi.
• COM/DCOM/Active X.
• Understand the issues of virtual memory, non vol memory, physical memory, memory alignment.
• Understanding of control systems.
• Knowledge of Hardware Interfaces.
