Salary: £26,400 – £42,000 per year
Key Task
To carry out body repair work to vehicles ensuring all work is of the highest quality and is completed within the time scales required.
Routine Tasks / Responsibilities
• To carry our all necessary mechanical and body work on allocated jobs, in full accordance with professional standard of workmanship and vehicle roadworthiness, including; Panel-beating; Chassis & body component replacement; Welding of components using the appropriate method for relevant vehicle materials; Chassis jig measurement and alignment; Pre-paint preparation on allocated jobs
• To identify and report all apparent other faults or other work that is found to be required, or considered to be advisable in the interests of safety and/or reliability
• To identify and utilise the correct methods of working by using your experience, skills, training and industry knowledge, referring to the available technical information where appropriate
• To complete all job-related and other Company documentation and administrative duties accurately and promptly
• To work safely and efficiently in order to satisfactorily complete all jobs allocated
• To assist colleagues as required, including carefully supervising trainees as instructed
• To promptly and accurately notify all technical and other queries/concerns to your supervisor
• To work co-operatively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and other parties as instructed
• To carry-out road testing of vehicles when required in a safe and legal way as instructed, checking first for basic roadworthiness and using defensive driving techniques at all times
• To keep your industry skills up-to-date on an on-going basis, by making appropriate efforts to acquire adequate knowledge of new vehicles. Systems and techniques
• To comply at all times with Company policies and instructions on all relevant subjects, including general heath & safety; personal protective equipment; security; vehicle driving and parking
• To perform in a suitable manner any other tasks and duties that may from time to time be reasonably requested of you by the Company’s management
• To provide accurate time tickets and complete quality sheets
Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
Will have extensive experience as a panel technician
• Industry standard qualifications required in body repair, preferably ATA Panel Accredited
• Current AOM009 – BS Spot Welding – BS1140, BS MIG Welding – BS14872
• Panel Bonding Certificate of Competence
• Mig-brazing Certificate of Competence
