Packaging Technician

As the interim Packaging Technician, the role will support the Packaging & Process team in the delivery of fit for purpose packaging solutions that are cost effective, the right quality, deliver brand values and support operational efficiencies as well as supporting the wider NPD team to ensure a successful launch plan. The role is a 12 months fixed term opportunity covering maternity leave.

Key responsibilities:

• To provide support in all packaging development projects from concept to delivery as directed by the Packaging Technologist
• To support packaging production trials as directed by the Packaging Technologist in conjunction with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• To organise and be responsible for the dispatch of all Packaging & Process samples, completing all associated paper work
• To ensure accurate records are maintained of any Packaging, Process or NPD task completed in compliance with the requirements of the site Packaging Process and NPD Procedure Manual
• Maintain a good working relationship with Marketing, Procurement, Operations & Technical teams to enable you to support the delivery of packaging projects
• To participate in cross-functional project teams when required
• To support & align with the Packaging & Co-packer strategy, broadening knowledge of packaging machinery & processes
• Identify packaging & process improvements to support the Renshaw Continuous Improvement agenda
• Have an awareness of the packaging market to keep abreast of innovation, new solutions and legislation

Person Specification

• Preferably practical experience and understanding of a broad range of packaging materials, processes and manufacturing methods
• A flexible, can do attitude
• Good organisational skills, able to manage own workload and changes to that workload when required
• Must have an interest in FOOD
• A self-starter, who can work independently within a team environment
• Proficient IT skills in both Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel
• A qualification in packaging (or equivalent), or a HND/HNC in engineering with packing line experience, or a Science related degree is desirable but not essential
• A driving license is essential

• Salary of up to £26,400per annum dependent upon experience

• 36.5 hour working week (Mon-Thur 0900-1700, Fri 0900-1600), however flexibility will be required for the role due to trials often taking place from 0600
