Our client supplies water to 685,000 people in the London Boroughs of Sutton, Merton, and Croydon, as well as across East Surrey and parts of Kent. They are a forward thinking, innovative company that is highly regarded for their efficiency and customer service.
They are currently recruiting for an Outside Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join their Production Department undertaking ground maintenance and the cleaning of various tanks and reservoirs at their Production site in Kenley.
Within this role your main responsibilities will include: assisting in loading and off-loading deliveries of materials; grass cutting; tank cleaning, fencing repair/erection work; basic tree surgery; basic painting of the plant and any other general duties that may be required of you. You will also be accountable for using a variety of equipment and carrying out routine daily maintenance checks on equipment and you will be responsible for the reporting of any defects to maintain health and safety standards. Other responsibilities will include; the set-up, operation and dismantling of temporary pumping plants and general manual labour tasks.
The successful candidate will have a full driving licence and will ideally be educated to GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. You must have the ability to work well as an individual, but also within a team. Due to the nature of the work being carried out, which includes working in confined spaces with breathing apparatus, the successful applicant will be required to pass a medical examination to meet the health requirements for this activity. It is desirable that the candidate has relevant work experience as a labourer and has knowledge of the safe use of chainsaws and mechanical plant.
