Operations Manager – Waste Management and Recycling

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-known waste management and recycling company for an experienced Operations manager to work within a soil and Waste recycling.

Following a very successful 10 years trading, my client has individual unique strengths in waste recycling, environmental consultancy and legislative compliance, principally for the agricultural, land restoration and horticultural sectors

REGION:

Based around the Cheltenham Area.

ROLE

The job holder is responsible for overall management of operational staff, planning, coordination and delivery, within an agreed budget, of waste recycling contracts involving land-spreading activities, restoration sites, mobile treatment licence sites and permanent permitted sites. They will also have overall management of also conduct sampling of soils, water, by-products etc; manage and carry out land finding prior to permitting; permitting; site assessments; remediation monitoring as well as the management of all aspects of Health and Safety and environmental compliance.

Overall responsibility for the management and delivery of land-spreading contracts; recycling both on agricultural land and restoration sites.

Health & safety assessments and contract management.

Managing and finding suitable land for recycling operations, both agricultural waste recycling sites or sites for land restoration

Managing the collection of soil, water and waste samples and dispatch for analysis and carrying out field pollution and H&S risk assessments.

Overall Management for delivery of materials to recycling points, carrying out stockpile storage management, overseeing land-spreading operations and carrying out post spreading inspections

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

WAMITAB or WAMITAB continuing competence

5 years industry experience- Desirable

Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent understanding of wastes and environmental issues affecting land and soils.

Experience conducting and coordinating land spreading work, restoration work, mobile treatment license and permitted sites.

Excellent understanding of the waste regulatory environment in the UK.

Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Proven ability to manage and motivate staff
