Operations Director – Solar

Salary: £48,000 – £54,000 per year

Our client provides renewable and energy saving technologies for organisations, they are a fast-growing company with results orientated people who are willing to challenge conventional thinking. They put people first, build strong customer relationships and improve futures.

They are looking for an Operations Director with a commercial electrical background to take ownership and lead the operational side of the business. Reporting to the Board, your initial focus will be on their commercial solar PV services with progression to also own the LED and Battery Storage services within the company.

With a commercial electrical or engineering background, you will be an experienced leader and a skilled communicator at all levels. You’ll be excited to contribute and help shape growth, they are looking for someone to help us build a high performing Operational Department to support existing contracts and their future expansion plans.

Operations Director Responsibilities

1. Lead the Solar Operations Department reporting directly to the Board.

2. Responsible for the development and installation of all solar PV projects across the UK to highest operational and health & safety standards.

3. Own Health & Safety across the company.

4. Develop the companies Installation and Operations & Maintenance capacity in line with current contracts and future growth plans.

5. Help to develop new policies and processes to continually improve employee satisfaction and companies’ performance.

6. Build on existing supplier relationships and establish new relationships.

7. Help to develop the company’s knowledge, skills and offering in new products and technologies.

Operations Director Skills and Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in a similar Operational Director / Head of Operations / Command role.

• Team management, people development, skills analysis and team building.

• Commercial Electrician with significant LV / HV experience.

• Financial / Budget management

• Sub-contractor management / Contracts management

• Knowledge of solar PV and wider renewables industry

• Working knowledge of CDM and other appropriate Health and Safety regulations

• Good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products.

Other advantageous skills
• Site Management / Project Management experience.

• 18th Edition.

• 2391 Test and Inspection.

• Solar PV / Renewables qualifications.

• ISOH, NEBOSH certificates.

DBS Clearance – Must be able to work in sensitive environments; schools and care homes and have a 5-year checkable history.

Driving Licence – Hold a full UK driving licence with no disqualifications and no more than 6 penalty points.
