Salary: £28,800 – £38,400 per year

Position –Operating Department Practitioner – Newton-le-Willows
Ref – Operating Department Practitioner – Newton-le-Willows
Salary – Dependant on experience
Hours – Full Time (37.5 hours) or part time
Role Summary:
Our client is an independent private hospital providing day care surgery who only look after private patients.
In your role of operating department practitioner, you will participate as a member of the Theatre Team under the direction and supervision of the Theatre Manager. You will be responsible for delivering high level, professional care across a broad spectrum of specialties to patients whilst under your care.
The successful candidate will require skills including some or all of the following:
Scrub
Recovery
Anaesthesia

Operation Department Practitioner Core Responsibilities:
Provide skilled assistance as part of the anaesthetic, recovery or surgical team to ensure the effective and safe delivery of patient care in the peri-operative environment.
Plan in advance to ensure all equipment is available and work area is stocked fully in order to carry out the intended procedure in good time, safely, and without delay.
Ensure all standards are complied with and that all equipment is fit for use
Act within the scope HCP/NMC professional Code of Practice at all times.
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and the multidisciplinary care team.
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations within the hospital.
Act as a member of the cardiac arrest team.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness in your working environment at all times in accordance with guidelines for infection prevention and control.
Keep up to date with NMC / HPC, hospital policies and guidelines and to adhere to these at all times.
The above list is not exhaustive but reflects main duties of the post. It will be reviewed annually to respond to the changing needs of the service, in consultation with the post holder.

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
Dip HE Operating Dept Practice
C&G 752 Operating Dept Practice
Registered Nurse Level 1 with ENB 183 Anaesthetics and Recovery together with scrub experience
Degree in Operating Dept Practice or Nursing (desirable)
NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
Transfer experience
ECDL
Must have recent scrub experience across a wide range of specialities
Must be able to work in anaesthetics or recovery in addition to above
Understanding of the audit process
Full Understanding of Health and Safety Issues
Understanding of CQC inspection process
