Network Technician – Ethernet, PDH/SDH, DWDM, CCNA
On behalf of our customer a leading provider of Data Centre connectivity we are looking to recruit a Network/Data Centre Technician to work in field operation roles in various Data Centres based in East London. To be suitable for the role, you must have prior experience of working in telecommunications field environments installing, commissioning and operating transmission and data networks so a thorough knowledge of PDH/SDH and DWDM is required along with CCNA certifications. This position is permanent.

As the company is responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting a range of manufacturer’s equipment for their customer networks, prior experience of Nortel, Ciena, Cisco and Juniper would be an advantage.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Ethernet testing, end to end CCT testing and /100mb/Gb/10Gb levels
• Using Ethernet BERTm RFC 2544, RFC 6349
• Experience using Exfo or Sunrise testers would be an advantage
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve customer affecting issues
• Liaising with the network provider and provisioning operation teams as required, to troubleshoot and rectify problems
• Equipment and infrastructure installation
• Some foreign travel will be necessary

You must have Cisco CCNA with a minimum of 5 years working with data networking devices along with knowledge of optical transmission – PDH/SDH/DWDM, as well as strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate solutions to the customer and escalate as required.
