Meter Reader

We are looking for Meter Readers to work in the IG postcode area. This is an ongoing temporary position working 42.5 hours per week, completing gas and electric meter readings in domestic and commercial properties, ensuring you update the system daily with all work completed. As you will not be working to pre booked appointments you must be confident to knock on customer doors. Due to the nature of the role you will walking up to 10 miles per day in all weather.

You will be paid £26,000 per year PAYE, plus a mileage allowance of 25p per mile and the opportunity to earn bonus pay based upon high meter reading performance. Subject to accruing the full statutory holiday entitlement you will receive 28 days paid holiday annually. There are opportunities to become a permanent employee after 6 months, and to progress in to either senior meter reader or meter installer roles.

You should meet the following criteria to be considered for the position;

* Live in the IG postcode area
* Have delivery driving, door to door or postal experience
* A minimum of 3 penalty points on your driving licence
* A clean criminal record (will be completed upon offer at a cost of £25 to the applicant)
* A reliable car with business use cover on your insurance
* You must be able to work to a fortnightly shift pattern of Monday – Friday and Tuesday – Saturday
* A flexible attitude is a must as you may have to travel up to an hour away from your home address
* You must be a dependable candidate with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently
