Salary: £26,000 per year

Metal Prep Technician – Aberdeen – £26,000 per year, Full time – Shift Rotation – Permanent role. Benefits include 33 days holiday, Life Insurance, Onsite Parking, Employee Assistance Programme, Shift Allowance, and Company Pension Contributions. 

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking to recruit a highly self-motivated, conscientious, and committed individual who has a do it now & can-do attitude to assist and support the Metal Prep Team prepare metal inserts for bonding to rubber components.

Reporting to the Metal Prep Team Leader, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to work safely in an efficient and systematic manner whilst maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, maintenance and record keeping. It is vital that you are a team player and show flexibility in all aspects of your work. The role requires tenacity and resilience and for someone to be results-driven to get their tasks completed to strict deadlines. The Metal Prep Technician should be a good communicator with colleagues and be able to find solutions, make decisions and have a good understanding of the organization.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The preparation and handling of metals
  • Degrease, shot blast, and apply bonding agents to insert components
  • Clean, maintain and keep records of equipment and environmental conditions
  • Reclaim, drill and grind components/finished goods as required
  • Label and identify components and chemicals as required
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted supply of components in line with the production plan
  • Use of various chemicals necessary to the process
  • Strict upkeep of quality records and procedures
  • General Housekeeping and manual handling of metals
  • The maintenance of adherence to and improvement of our clients quality systems and procedures, including but not restricted to continual ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Develop, support, and actively encourage a culture of continual improvement by suggesting improvement programmes that involve team members and other employees.
  • Support all our clients functions and personnel in the timely and effective delivery of all business goals and objectives.
  • Support, encourage and implement a ‘make it happen’ and ‘do it now’ culture. Lead by example and always demonstrate role model traits.
  • Carry out tasks assigned by Metal Prep Team Leader / Production Manager

 HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Ensure familiarity with our clients health and safety policies and procedures
  • Create and promote a safe working environment with good housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure all employees wear safety PPE when deemed necessary within the restricted areas. Report any unsafe acts, accidents or near misses.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

  • Daily tasks – on time, on budget
  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness
  • Productivity and process yields
  • Completion of all assigned tasks on time

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Reading, numeracy, and English language skills for effective oral and written communication within the team
  • Basic PC knowledge
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet targets
  • Read and understand job specifications
  • Previous manufacturing experience advantageous
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team
  • Flexible and willing to work shifts to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative
