Salary: £26,131 – £29,458 per year
We are Eden Futures, and we deliver exceptional support services for people aged 18 and over. Most of the people we support are autistic or have a learning disability or a mental illness. Many have experienced trauma, and lots communicate distress in ways we don’t always immediately understand. To help us connect, we embrace the ethos of Positive Behaviour Support.
To help people live the life they want because others have heard and understood what they have to say, we are expanding the Specialist Support Team and are looking for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join the team!
This will be a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
Successful candidates will be required to have an Enhanced DBS check prior to commencing employment.
Interviews will take place on Monday 12th September.

Main Responsibilities
- Encourage support workers to think differently in support delivery to enhance the quality of life for service users by promoting positive risk taking.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals (eg. Psychology, Psychiatry, CPN, SALT, OT, RC, Social Worker, Challenging Behaviour Foundation, National Autistic Society) to promote the rights of service users.
- Recognise difficulties in others and work with them to identify solutions and develop appropriate strategies
- Support practice that involves service users in their care and support
- Cultivate a shared understanding of the function of behaviour and develop strategies which help the person develop an alternative behaviour to achieve the same purpose.
- Have excellent organisational skills to manage caseload and plan intervention, coaching and liaison effectively given the often unpredictable nature of demand.
- Assist in the assessments and transition for any new or potential service users
- Share relevant past professional experiences with others so that they can develop their skills which support the improvement in quality of life outcomes for service users.
- In conjunction with the local manager, promote joint working when overseeing the transition for new / moving service users – ensuring all support needs are met both within the transition period and ongoing.
- Guide and mentor support workers and colleagues so that they understand and are able meet the expectations of their role.
- Take responsibility for the functional analysis of distress communication and the consequent development of positive behavior support plans, whilst working alongside support teams to develop their skills in delivering pro-active, person-centred approaches to working together with the service user.
- Provide effective job coaching to the support workers and colleagues in relation to how we are supporting service users and to meet any changing needs
- Attend group supervisions regularly and ensure feedback from service users and staff is responded to appropriately.
- Assist the leadership team to implement systems, processes and procedures ensuring the service meets external quality standards and regulations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and the wider circle of support in order to promote joint working and provide a better-quality service to the service users.

- Have evidence of professional clinical knowledge acquired through working in a Health or Social Care setting supporting people who communicate distress through hostility or the use of NSSI because of enduring mental ill-health
- Understand and promote trauma informed care.
- Have knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, policies and government-led initiatives.
