Salary: £29,400 – £35,400

Overview of role:

The post holder will provide skilled Biopsychosocial assessments and evidence- based employment focussed interventions for clients with health- related barriers. As a Mental Health Advisor you will utilise your specialist skills, knowledge and experience, taking a holistic approach and working closely with employment advisors, key workers or case managers to help our clients to better manage their physical and/or mental health support and enable them to remain in work or facilitate a successful return to employment.

Candidates must have experience of applying Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or, Motivational Interviewing and/or Brief Solution Focused Therapy approaches to a client base. You will also have experience of delivering one-to-one interventions and of facilitating workshops. Applicants must have both a passion and an interest in empowering unemployed clients to effectively manage their mental health, whilst supporting them to move closer to work.

Key Responsibilties:

• Conducting bio-psychosocial assessments for clients

• Providing face to face and telephone based interventions to individuals

• Delivering groupwork

• Monitoring clients’ individual health and wellbeing throughout group activities and reporting significant changes which may impact positively or negatively on a client’s recovery/ return to work to the client’s Employment Advisor.

• Producing tailored health action plans for each client focusing on improving their health and moving them closer to work

• Offering advice and guidance to clients with regard to their health condition and empowering individuals to manage their health more independently and effectively

• Providing return to work guidance and offer in-work support where required

• Delivering lifestyle, health specific, and psycho-educational workshops

• Ensuring clients are able to access appropriate self- help material

• Referring clients to appropriate specialist services, agencies, and organisations where appropriate

• Joint working with other operational roles and other health professionals

• Providing in work support which may involve liaising with employers

• Assisting and supporting as many clients into full time sustainable work as possible

Essential:

To be registered as a health professional with one or more of the following regulatory bodies as below:

• Psychologist registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC);

• Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC;

• A counsellor registered as an accredited practitioner with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP);

• An accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist registered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP);

• Mental Health Nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

• Demonstrate a passion and an interest in empowering clients to effectively manage their mental health conditions to enable them to move closer to employment;

• Evidence of applying the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or, Motivational Interviewing and/or Brief Solution Focused Therapy approaches to a client base;

• Working knowledge of the biopsychosocial model of healthcare;
