POSITION:Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Production Engineer
PRODUCTS:Custom electronic products, safety crucial systems
Salary: £26,000 – £34,200per year, training package, career growth, modern working environment, excellent working team, overtime.
LOCATION:From an office in Kent. Ideally living in the Medway Towns, Sittingbourne, Maidstone, Sheppey, Dartford, Tonbridge, Chatham, Rochester, Rainham, Gillingham, Gravesend, Faversham or South East London.
EXPERIENCE:You must have a minimum HNC, experience of mechanical design of plastic moulding. Experience of solid works and Auto CAD and excellent communication skills.
OPPORTUNITY:The company is a world wide manufacturer of custom electronics with state of the art production facilities across Europe, Far East, Middle East with a solid research and development budget.
The company has a history of manufacturing new and innovative products with at least 12 new lines coming on line per annum.
Your role is to work closely with the electronic design teams and will be heavily involved in:
– New product development, from the initial structural planning meeting with the Sales Departments, Research and Development and Senior Management at the inception stage of new products with input into basic design, potential economies and new production methods.
– Design, taking the initial brief and incorporating the electronics into a case or enclosure of your design, fitting with current regulations.
Pre-production, you will receive the prototype from Research and Development and complete a full report on how to manufacture the units economically which may involve you talking to suppliers for recommendations and adapting your original designs for manufacturing.
Production, working closely with the team to set up a short production line including pick and place robots and assembly technicians, with training of staff in the stages and steps of assembling your designs.
Due to the nature of the industry you need to be adaptable and able to think around a problem as you take a product from an initial design idea to a finished product manufactured in some numbers. Communication with the team is essential.
