This company is developing next generation print engine products and system solutions for demanding inkjet printing applications using a platform approach. The scope includes:

Printheads with:
A complex mechanical arrangement with tight tolerances
An ink path including a manifold of critical fluidic design
An advanced thin film PZT-MEMs actuator and nozzle plate
Embedded electronics with mixed signal driver ASICs
Datapath and interconnect components (electronics and software) that:
Deliver image data from the host to the printheads.
Implement system management functions such as printhead alignment, calibration, configuration and monitoring.
Mechanical interfaces, printbar and printhead maintenance systems

The purpose of this role is to deliver value-added mechanical design expertise and innovative solutions for the new product developments, particularly the printhead, printbar, and maintenance systems.

Key Accountabilities:

Contribution of mechanical design expertise and innovation to the new product development (NPD) process from architecture and concept definition through to detailed modelling, design and product qualification.
Accurate understanding of product requirements and the system architecture.
Generation of detailed specifications for design of subsystems and components.
Optimisation of design trade-offs and creation of solutions for:
Functionality and performance in the specified applications.
Robustness, reliability and durability.
Thermal, fluidic and electrical integrity.
Manufacturability, testability and yielded unit cost.
Ease of integration in end-use systems.
Install-ability, usability, maintainability and serviceability.
Optimal choice of materials and manufacturing methods.
Participation in cross functional design reviews (including FMEAs).
Timely release of complete design information for prototype manufacture.
Delivery of high quality design documentation and reports.
Hands-on involvement (with test engineering colleagues) in design verification, testing and validation testing;
