Salary: Circa £45,000 (depending on experience)

The opportunity:
A vacancy has arisen in the Radio Frequency (RF) Technology Team of Sparkworks for a scientist or engineer on the technology aspects of Radio Frequency Directed Energy systems and in related areas.

As part of the RF Technology team, you will work across a range of theoretical studies, design tasks and practical experiments to develop world-leading, cutting edge, RF Directed Energy technologies and systems.

You will be involved in the whole lifecycle, from bid to customer delivery, of a multitude of differing projects. These typically run from anywhere between six months and two to three years. This assures a good turnover of exciting work.

There is the opportunity to lead or contribute to the development of RF Directed Energy technologies and systems based on Pulsed Power RF or microwave applications by delivering source designs, electromagnetic modelling, circuit analysis, and experimental assessments.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • A graduate or experienced engineer with a strong engineering or science background and ideally having a higher degree (e.g. Masters or PhD) in a related field.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner to deal with fluid programme achievements and timescales.
  • Hold a DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance or must be willing to undertake the DV process.

You would be joining a dynamic, diverse and passionate team of highly motivated scientists and engineers, who are genuinely interested in their fields. You will enjoy access to in-house expertise to supplement your knowledge, with access to a large laboratory suite, featuring several anechoic and screened test chambers and extensive high-voltage test facilities. As well as the chance to attend international conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field and be able to contribute to wider activities, including supporting senior management with high-level VIP visits.

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working; typically, this role will be 4-5 days per week on site working.
