Manufacturing Process Specialist

Salary: £26.4 – £30 per hour

We have five McCain factories across the UK, including our head office in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. As well as a strong network of farmers, we also own a potato seed business in Montrose, Scotland. McCain is the UK’s largest purchaser of British potatoes, buying approximately 15% of the annual potato crop.

About the role…

We’re recruiting for a Process Engineer to come and work with our Manufacturing team to help develop, implement and monitor the use of our manufacturing technologies and implement best practices to ensure we’re always improving the way in which we produce our product – without compromising on our quality.

Reporting into the Technical Services Manager you’ll provide our manufacturing teams with tactical hands-on support to address specific opportunities, develop new manufacturing technology pipeline and establish new processing bench marks that drive continuous improvement.

You will also…

Use data analytical tools and develop plant automation devices to drive performance for existing equipment and new installations that bring breakthrough performance.

Implement, monitor and encourage effective use of best practices, thus developing technical capability within the factories and other functions

*

Lead and provide best practices with respect to the integration of technical expertise and manufacturing into product development

*

Provide technical input to network optimization planning

*

Support new product launch activities, which includes attending test runs, gathering data and cooperatively working with development team

We’re looking for someone…

*

Who has a strong technical aptitude with experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, and/or food science, with the ability to improve process efficiencies

*

Experience with electrical and controls systems design and programming

*

Ability to understand process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives

*

Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies and basic manufacturing SOP’s

*

Experience with start-up management concepts and equipment commissioning

Where will I be working?

Our largest manufacturing plant is in Scarborough, so we’d love someone to be based in commuting distance to this factory. However, we also have a large plant in Whittlesey, Peterborough so we’d also be happy for someone to be commutable to here, with occasional travel to Scarborough.
