The Role

We are currently looking for a part qualified or fully qualified Management Accountant in Accountancy with a minimum of 3 years’ experience and knowledge of working in an Accounts Department in a commercial environment.

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working within a small but dedicated Finance Team; this role is both diverse and varied were you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and relevant financial reports, deal with UK and International debtors and work with foreign currency payments, cash management, direct tax and general ledger accounts analysis.

The successful applicant will possess good communication skills and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships internally and externally.

This role is ideally suited to a responsible, professional, team player, with the desire to gain all round accounts experience with the flexibility to provide support to all areas of the Accounts Function.

JOB PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will involve undertaking various accounting activities including invoice preparation, credit control whilst assisting in supporting with month-end reports and closure, Management Accounts preparation and the day-to-day finance requirements.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working alongside the Head of Finance on preparing the Management Accounts
• Posting and allocating payments to the relevant customer accounts
• Maintaining and updating customer master files to ensure consistent and accurate customer information
• Reconciling Bank Accounts and posting journals
• General administration
• Dealing with customer queries quickly and accurately
• You may be asked to carry out additional tasks within your capability, in order to meet the needs of the business.
• You may be required to work additional hours if it is necessary for the proper performance of your duties.

ESSENTIAL KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

• Commercially experienced – this role is not suitable for those with experience in practice
• Working towards or have completed ACCA/CIMA/AAT qualification
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent and highly experienced with Excel and Microsoft Office
• Must possess a diplomatic, polite and business-like manner
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise tasks/projects in order to meet new and established deadlines,
• coupled with excellent organisational and time management skills
• Well-organised individual used to working in a pressured environment
• Very good knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping terminology, practices and procedures
• Dealing with export debtors – EMEA, USA and Far East
• Confident, flexible, helpful and hardworking team player who is able to adapt, and have an
• inherent desire to continually make improvements within role
• Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external customers
• Self-motivation and the ability to work without much supervision on routine based tasks

OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Experience using Microsoft Navision would be highly beneficial
• Experience within a retail or manufacturing company
• Payroll processing and reconciliation experience
• Good understanding of VAT returns
• Group reporting experience
