We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) to join our friendly and tight knit team In East Lothian, near Edinburgh. You will have solid mechanical experience, probably backed up by an apprenticeship or trade qualification, and you will have enough electrical experience to get by safely should the need arise.

You will have knowledge and experience in heavy plant engineering, ideally in grain handling or quarrying. You will have worked in a manufacturing environment and will understand the needs of effective and timely interventions in order to keep production flowing with targets maximised.

The environment can be dusty and noisy, but the team is friendly and flexible and committed to working together to solve issues arising and to improve production outcomes. At times you will work alone and be the person on site ready to solve the problem.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications: Recognised apprenticeship or mechanical trade qualification

Skills/Abilities: Literate and numerate
Computer literate
Good communication skills
Excellent problem solving ability
Team player
Good team player
Flexible, pro-active approach

Working Knowledge:
Practical experience of maintaining plant and equipment in an industrial scale production environment
, Health and Safety legislation
Manual handling techniques
Basic electrical knowledge

DESIRABLE:

Qualifications: Relevant Malting Industry Qualification

Skills/Abilities: Willing to learn/train in various areas relating to the position
Quality awareness
Fork Lift Truck operation

Working Knowledge:
Previous experience in a malting manufacturing environment or heavy duty engineering.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am-4pm with 30 minute paid break
Salary: Competitive, with increase potential according to competencies achieved
On call arrangements inc. payment 1 in 3 with back up, and alone
Delayed start arrangements Call out before midnight, normal start time. Call out after midnight means either the start time the next day is deferred by the number of hours spent on call or an early finish by the number of hours spent on call.
Overtime Yes – WDD/WED plus BH Bonus and Call Out
Holidays Standard
Holiday restrictions Harvest
Public holidays May be rota’d to work public holidays

Interview Process: If you are selected, the interview process will involve an interview by telephone and face to face interview via Skype with GenesisOne HR.

After this, 2 or 3 people will be shortlisted for an interview on site with the Production Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
