Logistics Assistant – Nights

We have opportunities for Logistics Assistants / Yard Operatives / Waste Operatives to work on a temporary to permanent basis in a new Regional Distribution Centre in Goldthorpe.

As a Logistics Assistant you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the regional distribution centre, whilst contributing to an efficient and co-operative working environment, optimum productivity, minimal inventory loss and strong due diligence.

Your duties will include; – Sorting out and organising items returned from stores for recycling or returning to suppliers. These include cardboard, pallets, fruit and vegetable baskets, bread baskets etc. – Control the standards and organisation of the pallet area and deal with the inventory of pallets, crates and equipment – Keep loading bays clean and tidy – Loading trailers -Reporting any repairs or defects internally or externally that detract from the appearance of the RDC or pose a risk to health and safety – Operate a fork lift and/or reach truck – Operate the Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) in a safe and efficient manner, reporting any faults to the Maintenance Manager and ensures the trucks are put on charge supply at the end of the shift. – Ensures the workplace is kept clean and tidy and ensures all spillages/ breakages are cleared immediately.

The majority of work will be outside and you will need to be comfortable working in all weathers. Contracts are a minimum of 40 hours per year, working 4 on 4 off. Shifts are 12 hours long – 6pm to 6am. The Salary: s for Nights are £26,000per year temporary increasing to £26,000 per year permanent. Positions are offered on a 12 week temporary to permanent basis.

To be considered for the role of Logistics Assistant, you must have: Experience in a similar role, such as Street Cleaner, Caretaker, Yard Man, Recycling Operative, Waste Operative, Labourer or similar. Additionally, you must have strong attention to detail, be meticulous and work to very high standards. Although not essential, experience operating a Counter Balance FLT would be a distinct advantage to your application.
