Scania GB are offering a free conversion course to LCV Technicians/Car Mechanics who are looking to make the move into the HGV sector. We will be offering full pay throughout your training and at the end of this course, you will be employed as an HGV Technician within Scania GB.

We are seeking ten skilled Light Vehicle Technicians who are looking to utilise and convert their current skills, join a leading global brand, and become an HGV Technician within the Scania Family.

Your learning will be a mix of on-site learning and bespoke training at our Training Academy in Loughborough. Whilst on site, you will be partnered with experienced Scania technicians and be allocated a mentor to observe and shadow. Whilst at the Training Academy, you will benefit from bespoke Scania training delivered by our own in-house training experts and be provided accommodation whilst learning. We will provide you with all the tools and knowledge you need to succeed.

The Process

The conversion course will span over an 8-week period, where we will cover all the key aspects required for you to become an HGV technician, capable of conducting vehicle inspections and MOT testing. At the end of your 8 weeks, you will have the opportunity to earn an IRTEC qualification and start your career as an HGV Technician.

Working Hours:

Alternating shifts (early and lates) with some Saturday morning work required.

To join this program, you must have:

  • The desire to utilise your current experience, to convert to the HGV industry
  • A work ethic based on solid core values
  • A Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (NVQ Lv2 or equivalent may be considered)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ mechanical experience
