Legal Manager – Conveyancing

Salary: £78,000 – £96,000 per year

Our client is a fast growing national Top 500 law firm and are one of the largest providers of conveyancing in the UK. They have built this on their fast, modern service and dedication to client care.

They are looking for a Legal Manager for Conveyancing – a key appointment to their Senior Management Team. This is a National Role which is Home Based but will involve travel to local offices from York to the South Coast.

You will work closely with their Group Head of Residential Conveyancing. Heads of Departments and key stakeholders to promote and explain the company’s objectives and aims and values to their teams. 

You will supervise and encourage the team managers in their development in the performance of their roles, ensuring that all team members fulfil their job descriptions and meet their targets.

What you’ll need to succeed:

Be a Qualified Solicitor, CILEx qualified or Licenced Conveyancer, or qualified by experience ·

Have a good understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct and any other regulatory requirements

Have proven track record of providing proactive, consistent and efficient client services and legal advice

To show an ability to deal with clients to the very highest standard of care

To have excellent written and verbal skills including an ability to deal with verbal and written complaints

Strong problem‐solving skills

Keen eye for detail, with strong organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise your workload

Forward thinking, proactive with demonstrable energy and self‐motivation

A strength in risk management on dealing with complex matters

Areas of Accountability:

Ensuring adherence to regulatory, client care, performance criteria and SRA regulations

Ensuring appropriate processes and systems are in place and in operation across all offices in Residential Conveyancing to achieve regulatory compliance in clint and file management activities.

Act as a subject matter expert for complex regulatory queries.

Coaching and mentoring the fee earners in regulatory and compliance policies.

Streamlining the policies across all the offices and brands.

Compiling a set of standardised policies on issues relating to conveyancing practices.

Reporting and monitoring the delivery of compliance and regulatory matters to the Group Head of Conveyancing.

Reviewing complaints and claims data, reporting on trends and write offs.

Reviewing compliance training needs across the Group, developing and delivering where required internal training on compliance subjects.

Undertake training that is required in order to perform the duties of the role.

Drive a culture in the conveyancing teams to deliver exceptional customer service to clients and key stakeholders

Carry out regular team quality measures

Support team with technical queries where necessary and help them to achieve and exceed client’s expectations

Conduct regular 1‐2‐1s with Heads of Conveyancing at each office, ensuring any issues concerning compliance and quality are addressed and improved upon.

Be an escalation point for any issues in service and to effectively resolve complaints

Make recommendations on enhancements to processes and the VF/SOS case management system to ensure adherence regulatory and compliance requirements and reduce risk
