Based at a Construction College in Aldershot we are looking for a part time lecturer in Carpentry.
Lecturers must have proven industry experience and a carpentry qualification but previous experience in a teaching role is not essential as training can be provided. Also candidates without NVQ Assessor qualifications will be considered as the college will provide this qualification for the right candidate.
The most important qualities we are looking for in a potential carpentry lecturer are knowledge of construction and carpentry, a willingness to teach others, flexible attitude, good organisational skills, teamwork and strong communication skills.
CARPENTRY LECTURER DUTIES:
– Carpentry lecturers deliver the course curriculum to classes of students mainly studying towards a level 3 qualification
– Lecturers are responsible for the preparation and the development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
– Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English (whatever your specialist subject)
– Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a basis for setting learning objectives for students of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions.
– Make accurate and productive use of assessment to secure learners progress
– Give students regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage learners to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress, their emerging needs and to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.
– Take responsibility and be accountable for student`s successful progression and completion of the course.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
– Previous experience of working in a role involving Carpentry
– A qualification relevant to the subject at level 3 or above
– Maths and English GCSE or Equivalent
