Learning Support Worker (Literacy / Numeracy)

900 hours (annual contract)

£26,000 per year pro rata

Wiltshire College are looking to recruit two Learning Support Workers in Literacy/ Numeracy at the Salisbury campus to provide educational and mentoring support to learners with moderate and specific learning difficulties, disabilities and specifically those who experience difficulties in Literacy and Numeracy.

You will be required to support learners with their Literacy and Numeracy through group workshops and individual support in the ALS centre, whilst assisting in the supervision of learners moving around the campus and in the local community. In addition you will listen to learners and take a proactive approach to assisting and advising them with their additional learning needs and programme requirements, as well as working with the class tutor to develop and adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual learners.

The ideal candidate will hold or be willing to work towards a relevant Level 3 or equivalent qualification and will have experience of supporting young people and adults with profound and moderate learning difficulties. As an individual you will be able to work flexibly and sensitively to support learners with complex needs; whilst demonstrating good interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, inform and empathise with learners.
