The key purpose of the Lead Print Technician role is to protect the GAP (Group Autonomous Production) by identifying and reducing (causes of) variation, ensuring the shift operation and our systems within the department are pragmatic and as such the role is pivotal in ensuring the ability of the GAP to improve its performance on a continual basis.
The role is the lead technician within the GAP team whose role is to ensure effective performance within the Print GAP with support of the Department supervisor and UAP team. To continuously lead, coach and train the team, ensuring work is completed on time in full to the required standards. The role is a hands-on role that positively influences the performance of the team by coordinating work within the group.
Scope:
To lead, coach & motivate all team members. To ensure the company’s production, EHS and Quality standards are always adhered to. To ensure the team achieves/surpasses the site metrics targeted. To ensure ISO standards are always respected and followed. To ensure tasks are completed on time, in full.
Health and Safety:
Individual:

  • Understand and comply with the company’s health and safety policy and environmental policy.
  • Understand and comply with the company’s departmental emergency procedures for fire and evacuation.
  • Report all accidents/incidents or dangerous occurrences including unsafe acts. Report environmental contamination or damage to plant, production machinery, equipment and or buildings.
  • Wear correct PPEwhere required and or instructed to do so.
  • Inform the company, immediately of any non-work-related injuries/illness that can affect and or become aggravated whilst at work.

Team:

  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed and respected at all times.
  • Ensure department 5s standards are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure any EHS related incidents are reported to line management and controls & actions are in place.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Ensure GMP standards are respected and maintained at all times.
  • Ensure site processes are followed in full (ISO standards).
  • To provide clear leadership and support to GAP team, ensuring operation in line with production, quality and EHS targets.
  • Coach, mentor and develop GAP team to achieve targets by personal development (training).
  • Motivate team members, develop team strengths, abilities and skills.
  • Monitor team performance and maintain GAP boards in full.
  • To be a champion of compliance and motivate others to meet and exceed the required standard.
  • To effectively communicate to team and key contacts.
  • Assist investigations for quality, EHS and conduct related matters as required.
  • Report directly to department supervisor,
  • Champion CI initiatives, initiate/facilitate CI/UAP activities under the direction of the Print supervisor.
  • Conduct shift handovers with other Gap leaders, ensuring all information is communicated effectively and in full.
  • Attend production planning meetings as per schedule in the absence of supervisor/senior team leader.
  • Ensure shifts tasked routine activities are completed on time in full (Machine cleans/safety checks etc).
  • Co-ordinate activities and allocate resources In line with planned activities?
  • Assist in the preparation and operation of the print machines, including receiving and verifying artwork, laying of print plates, line clearances and running of the presses, whilst ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure print machinery is correctly maintained in order to comply with Company standards and cGMP.
  • Liaise with engineering team for breakdowns.
  • Ensure GAP admin functions are completed in full – Daily safety checks, SAP activities, Pass off’s, email correspondence.
  • Completing vital CoF checks.
  • Ensure GAP boards are maintained and current.
  • All other Gap activities commensurate with the role.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • In-depth knowledge of performance metrics
  • Good PC skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Organisational and time-management skills
  • Hands on Print experience is essential

Willing to transition to flexographic

  • Flexible and enthusiastic, with a hands-on approach.
  • The ability to motivate others while maximising the team’s performance.
  • Ability to generate a clear analytical framework for decision making, problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Able to deal with individuals at all levels
  • Clear and proven understanding of best industry practices and ability to develop a process driven environment

Please note you will be working a shift pattern over a Monday to Sunday period 3 days working 12 hour shift 3 days rest 3 Nights working 12 hour shift 6 days rest As this is set throughout the year you will know 1 years in advance exactly which days you are working
