Building a machine to enable a billion better customer choices – this is my client’s vision, as they aim to select a Lead DevOps Engineer who can actively contribute to the company’s future aspirations.

As a DevOps evangelist, with a strong understanding of AWS and Linux as well as a passion for big data, you will be working on a cutting-edge supplier-integration platform that allows retailers to better-understand the range of products they don’t provide – the host of products which are likely to succeed.

And being at the forefront of this cutting-edge platform, as a Lead DevOps Engineer, will bring exciting challenges: you will be the stand-alone DevOps, with the chance to have real responsibility from day one and move forward by growing your own team.

In addition to getting hands-on with Hadoop clusters and migrating existing data and web services into Cassandra, you will also architect and scale AWS-based infrastructure in order to orchestrate a migration to a hybrid cloud approach.

Skills & Requirements

• Experience scaling web services at software and hardware architecture level
• An intimate understanding of AWS best-practices
• Proven in Linux administration
• Confident at being hands-on with configuration-management tools
• Proficiency with – or have a willingness to learn – Python
• Experience in some – but not necessarily all – of the following technologies: MySQL, Elasticsearch, Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra; DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis
