IT Project Manager

Project Overview

* Position: Business Systems Project Manager
* Location: Workington, Cumbria
* Length: 12 months +
* Hours: 37 per week
* Rate: £54 per hour

As part of a wider portfolio of security upgrades our client has identified a need for a Cyber Business Systems project manager to oversee a suite of upgrades to IT facilities for general business systems onsite.

Objective

The Business Systems Project Manager sets the project execution strategies and uses a cross-functional project and engineering team to deliver the project safely in line with company policy achieving established goals and objectives within the agreed baseline. They will deliver a fit for purpose design solution that takes into account construction, commissioning and operational requirements, meeting company legal, regulatory and project requirements.

Deliverables

* Input to and review of work packaging, tender selection, tender submissions for procurement of design services and equipment.
* Managing the interactions of design work, documents and solutions to align both within the portfolio and with interfaces and dependant work, documents, solutions and existing plant and equipment under the control of others.
* Specifying, supervising and reviewing work performed by alliance or contracted work involving design services.
* Managing the generation of design deliverables that define and preserve the design intent and are organised and align with the plant configuration.
* Identifying appropriate design and engineering standards and practices to be used for the delivery of portfolio.
* Specifying the level of verification and validation necessary to underpin design solutions that meet the safety, engineering and operational needs (including reviews).
* Developing, maintaining, reporting and trending an accurate project baseline.
* Maximising within the project the use of Learning from Experience and disseminating new LFE to the relevant functions.
* Implementing and maintaining the project and supporting functions interfaces as required across the Cyber programme.
* Leading and coaching the project team members.
* Assigning and maintaining competent project team members and acting promptly to industrial relations and HR issues.
* Providing accurate and timely information and reports regarding the project status, activities and performance.
* Identifying risks and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
* Implementing and maintaining effective integrated project execution strategies and plans.
* Implementing and maintaining effective communication to the project team and stakeholders.
* Meeting the specified project functional criteria.
* Controlling scope and cost to the agreed project baseline.

Essential/Desirable Skills

Essential

* Project Management experience of high value projects/programme and/or a high visibility project with Senior Stakeholder involvement.
* Four years basic IT and/or Information Security project management experience
* PRINCE II and/or PMP (or equivalent) certification
* Education: Degree in engineering and/or computer sciences
* Strong organisational skills
* Customer Focused
* Holding individuals to account
* Report Writing Skills
* MS Office (Word, Excell and Powerpoint)
* Team working skills
* Self Motivated

Desirable

* IT and/or Information Security project management experience
* Experience of higher value Projects/Programmes (>10m)
* Experience managing in a regulated environment.
* Information Security related certification (CISM, CISSP, etc).
* Experience with cost engineering and earned value management.
* Education: Post graduate degree
