Overview

The role:

A key part of the small Risk and Governance team based in our Milton Keynes office, carrying out operational audits to assess company operations, processes, finances and compliance, and providing business support to improve policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out audits from Terms of Reference writing through audit planning, audit fieldwork and audit report writing – these can be short operational audits at our 20+ vehicle repair sites through to detailed functional reviews of our Central departments
  • Prepare and present reports of audit findings and recommendations to managers and leaders and ensure these are implemented to improve our business
  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes, based on audit outcomes, to minimise risk
  • Identify key risk and control indicators across the business and assist in development of the Company Risk Assessment and audit plan
  • Evaluate and revise internal controls and operational policies and procedures as required
  • Support the Risk Event reporting process and ensure deadlines are met on updates and reports to the business
  • Assist with the annual external audit by providing information and explanations to the Auditors
  • Understand procedures and processes and operate them to the required standard encouraging best practice
  • Engage with operations teams to ensure collaborative working throughout the company

Qualifications

Desirable qualifications and experience: 

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to our sites across the UK as required (estimate 10 – 20% travel)
  • Part qualified or willingness to study for finance qualifications (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIA) desirable
  • Good PC skills at intermediate level with experience working in Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Previous experience in a similar or related role would be useful
  • Good verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate a strong sense of customer focus
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to engage across the business
  • Commitment to continuous improvement

  • Adaptable to changing demands and priorities
